Representative Virginia Foxx, the Chairwoman of the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce, graciously joins this CVTA webinar to introduce the topic and describe efforts to improve the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program.
Dr. Foxx is the author of bipartisan legislation that reauthorizes the program, strengthening it for jobseekers and making it easier to access for education providers, including CVTA members.
CVTA has endorsed the reauthorization bill, known as the Stronger Workforce for America Act.
After Chairwoman Foxx’s introduction, CVTA Board Member Bruce Busada and CVTA Executive Director Andrew Poliakoff will lead a presentation describing strategies for positive engagement with state and local workforce boards.
These boards are key decisionmakers regarding the distribution of educational funds for jobseekers under the WIOA program.
Bruce Busada has an extensive career providing high-quality education and job opportunities to new truck drivers as the president of Diesel Driving Academy. As Chairman of the Louisiana Workforce Investment Council, Mr. Busada will share advice about how CVTA Members can build strong partnerships within the workforce system by highlighting the importance of professional truck driving careers for local and state economies.
