CVTA Statement on Departure of FMCSA Administrator Robin Hutcheson

Jan 19, 2024

Today, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced that Administrator Robin Hutcheson will be leaving the agency on January 26th.

CVTA warmly thanks Administrator Hutcheson for her leadership, her urgency in supporting ELDT enforcement systems and for the valued partnership with CVTA’s membership.

During her tenure, Administrator Hutcheson prioritized critical improvements to the enforcement of Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements. These improvements have led to institutional and systematic enforcement strategies of ELDT and the Training Provider Registry (TPR) that will continue to improve highway safety.

FMCSA Executive Director and Chief Safety Officer, Sue Lawless to become Acting Administrator

Sue Lawless, who currently serves as the FMCSA Executive Director and Chief Safety Officer, will assume leadership of the agency as Acting Administrator.

Ms. Lawless recently attended and spoke at CVTA’s 2023 Fall Conference where she learned about the important mission of safety and training undertaken by CVTA’s national membership.

Given her extensive experience and background, CVTA is pleased to see Lawless take on this role and looks forward to further solidifying the Association’s partnership with Acting Administrator Lawless and the Office of Safety to continue critical work on ELDT enforcement.
