CVTA is pleased to report that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has issued guidance to states seeking to report training entities that are in violation of state requirements for truck driver training.
This guidance provides a checklist to states for proper reporting procedures to ensure that FMCSA receives the information necessary to take enforcement action against non-compliant training entities, up to and including removal from FMCSA’s Training Provider Registry (TPR).

CVTA’s ELDT Task Force has been working with state agencies and the FMCSA in support of a clear and transparent reporting process that leads to enforcement action against entities in violation of Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) standards and state requirements.
We appreciate FMCSA prioritizing ELDT enforcement and taking steps to help states support federal ELDT enforcement.
CVTA members can support the work of CVTA and FMCSA by sharing and highlighting this guidance document with the state agency that provides licensure or regulatory approval to your school.
We look forward to continued collaboration with FMCSA to ensure ELDT standards realize the safety benefits promised under these critical rules.
