Member Spotlight: CVTA Members Step Up to Help Students Impacted by Oklahoma CDL School Closure

Dec 1, 2022

CVTA members routinely put students first when training the next generation of truck drivers. But we are particularly proud to share how two CVTA members – American Truck Training and Roadmaster Drivers School of Oklahoma City – raised the bar by helping students whose training was halted when a competitor abruptly shut their doors.

CDL University in Oklahoma City suddenly closed its doors this week, according to local media reports. The closure left the school’s former students frightened that they would not be able to complete their CDL training or be refunded for the money they already paid before their training started.

Both American Truck Training and Roadmaster Drivers School offered immediate assistance to students whose training was halted by their competitor’s closure.

Jerome Redmond, President of American Truck Training, told KFOR 4 how his school is helping students:

“We’ve had folks, unfortunately, in tears. And we’ve had to just calm them down, and say, come on in, we’re here to help. And no matter what, we’re going to figure something out and help you get through school.”

Brad Ball, President of Roadmaster Drivers School, shared how difficult this situation is for students.

“That’s a very tragic thing for a student that, you know, is trying to improve their life to go through.”

Both CVTA member schools have offered tuition assistance to students who enrolled in training with the shuttered school to help offset what students already paid. We’re proud to have these schools as CVTA members!
