CVTA-PTDI Announce Strategic Alliance
September 15, 2020
(ALEXANDRIA, Va.) Today, CVTA and PTDI issued the following statement announcing a new strategic alliance:
“In 2019, the Commercial Vehicle Training Association (“CVTA”) and the Professional Truck Driver Institute (“PTDI”) began discussing the possibility of forming a strategic alliance to benefit commercial vehicle training programs and organizations.
As the COVID pandemic began to impact member schools and their ability to work through licensing, DMV closings, testing, and operational and staffing issues, this strategic alliance demonstrated considerable value for both organizations. The transaction was completed this past July with the two organizations remaining separate and distinct entities.
Our affiliation provides the opportunity to modernize PTDI while improving service, programs, and outreach. A task force has been created to explore ways to improve the value PTDI can deliver within the truck driver training and trucking industries. The task force will seek input from schools, carriers, trucking associations, insurance interests, and related industries with the overall goal of continuing to provide quality training and enhanced safety within our industry as a whole.”
