PTL was started by the late L. W. Paschall in 1937. He began his operation with a 1936 Ford truck, hauling sawdust, fertilizer, gravel, cross-ties or anything he could just to make a living. In later years, the company established a milk route where they picked up the fresh milk from the farm and delivered it to Ryan Milk in Murray. Business grew, and by 1972 the company had 35 employees and over 100 pieces of equipment.
In 1973, the company was sold to Randall A. Waller. Mr. Waller had extensive knowledge of the trucking industry and immediately began to expand the routes over which the company’s trucks could travel and deliver freight. This expansion of routes increased the service opportunities for western Kentucky business and permitted the company to grow at a rapid pace in those early years.
In 1980, Congress passed the Motor Carrier Act of 1980 which deregulated the control of issuing operating authority. While many companies closed their doors, Mr. Waller positioned PTL to move forward in an unexplored deregulated environment. By 1986, PTL was offering service throughout the entire 48 states, Canada and Mexico. PTL continued its pattern of growth in recent years. In 1994, PTL was recognized as one of the 10 best managed trucking companies in the United States. It was ranked number 87 on the 2011 Transport Topic top 100 For-Hire Carriers.
Today, PTL is a 100% employee-owned company. Rather than sell the company for the highest profits, Mr. Waller chose to give back to those that helped build the company to what it is today. PTL’s fifty plus years of leadership in the transportation industry is directly tied to the company’s ongoing commitment to helping the best company drivers succeed.

Earlier this month, Schneider National's long history of military support was recognized by both the State of Wisconsin and Wisconsin's Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) during a ceremony held at Schneider's Corporate Headquarters in Green Bay, Wis.
The office of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker honored the truckload carrier with a Certificate of Commendation for "going above and beyond in its mission to hire veterans." In the commendation, Gov. Walker noted Schneider's various programs designed to help people with military backgrounds become truck drivers.
Schneider associate (and former member of the U.S. Marine Corps) Grailing Jones also received a Certificate of Commendation from Walker's office. In his role as the company's small business owner-operator development manager, Jones helps current and former military personnel become small business owners by purchasing their own trucks and hauling freight for Schneider National.
In addition, the WDVA presented Jones with a "Year of the Veteran Award" for his outstanding leadership and exemplary advocacy for veterans and their families. This marked the first time the award was given to an individual instead of an organization.
Attached please find a picture taken after the ceremony in which the three awards were presented by WDVA Secretary John Scocos. Pictured (from left):
