Governor Declares "Schneider National Hire A Hero Day"
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- April 4, 2012 -- In 1935 Schneider National was founded by longtime National Guardsman Al Schneider. Shortly thereafter, Schneider recruited fellow Guardsmen to work at his growing business -- beginning the company's tradition of supporting military members and veterans by providing them with jobs. In 1992 the company took its commitment to the next level by creating a formal military recruitment program. Today Schneider proudly celebrated the 20th anniversary of this initiative at its Green Bay headquarters with a visit from several high-ranking military officials, as well as Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.

Mr. Schneider was born on October 19, 1935, the same year his father, Al (AJ), sold the family car to buy his first truck … a seemingly simple purchase that laid the groundwork for what would become, under Don’s leadership, one of the most successful, recognizable and respected transportation and logistics companies in North America.
