Special Events at the 2014 Spring Conference

We have put together some unique events to coincide with our Spring Meeting in St. Petersburg Florida. Here are the events.

Offshore and Inshore Fishing – Wednesday April 23rd:

Prepare for a fantastic day of fishing with professional guides and top of the line fishing boats in beautiful Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. “This time of year is the absolute height of Florida’s fishing all year”, says Captain Chris Wiggins who will be planning the event. “Not only is the weather generally perfect, but the bi-annual migration of King Mackerel occurs just off of the beaches and to get there and back, we will have to run through some of the best areas for catching inshore species such as Redfish and Snook.” King mackerel are among the most sought-after game fish throughout their range from North Carolina to Texas. Known throughout the sport fishing world for their blistering runs, the king mackerel matches its distant relative, the wahoo, in speed. We will add to the fun by having a photo/release competition between all the CVTA participants and a slide show later in the conference.

The plan: On Wednesday April 23rd, we will leave Demen’s Landing at 7 AM and return by 1:00 PM. We will plan for 3 people per boat and provide Cuban sandwiches and drinks. The cost per angler is $200.00 and it is appropriate to tip the Captain of each boat about $20 per angler.

Golf – Friday April 25th:

If you want to wind down after the meeting, we will have an informal golf outing at the beautiful Isla Del Sol Golf Course near the Gulf Beaches on Friday April 25th. It’s a small, pretty course on the water and the cost is only $100 per player and includes a bag lunch and round trip transportation. We plan to board the bus at 12:30 P.M. Friday with staggered start times on the front and back starting at 1:00 PM. After the game we will transport you back to the hotel in time for dinner. More information.
